Hunt Hollow Ski Club
Out with the old,
In with the New.
In with the New.
For the last ten years, Hunt Hollow Ski Club used an AXIS ip camera setup by their ISP.
Starting in early 2024, we began working on a project to improve the video and information provided by the camera.
There where a number of goals outlined:
Improved video quality
Improved sense for the activity on the slopes
Equivalent uptime to the previous camera
Easier maintenance in the long term
Cheaper reacquiring cost
Video quality and the slopes
The old AXIS camera featured a very narrow field of view (FOV). Additionally, the camera's age was showing with the poor clarity in low light conditions.
The new Annke FCD600 IP camera provides two 1080p cameras stitched together to form a 180º view capturing the entire base mountain area.
Equivalent Uptime
The previous configuration used port forwarding and a remote server to stream the camera.
To provide a more secure connection, a small onsite router made by GL-inet sends video along a Virtual Private Network (VPN) back to our server. make the video feed public from our server allows their network to stay secure.
Room To Improve
As with anything, there is always things that need to be made better.
Onsite support - Having bulletproof methods to troubleshoot are a must and should not be over looked.
Notification when problems arise - Learning of problem when they happen, not when you notice, to provide a better end user experience.
Learning is always happening, problems always occur. never stop adapting.
